The plot focuses on the bloody climax of the War of the Five Kings: alliances shatter, Westeros drowns in treachery, and a devastating army of wildlings and Others advances toward the Wall. What I liked most was the frantic pace and emotional tension. In my opinion, this is the most interesting, powerful, and unpredictable installment in the entire series. Scenes like the Red Wedding shock the reader, and though such brutality breaks your heart, it turns the plot into a masterpiece.
I highly recommend this book to all fans of uncompromising grimdark and deep military-political dramas.
